The Leo New Moon of August 18th presents an interesting dynamic – it both ushers in energies of new beginnings and exposes the shadow so that we may move forward. New moons mark a 4 week cycle. Mars is trine this new moon which adds a bit of fuel to this lunation. These are seed times – which means what we intend/affirm, commit to, and/or act upon grows. This is powerful. Be cognizant of your thoughts and actions. They are seeds to your tomorrow.
The Leo Moon supports our ability to “let die” what no longer serves our highest & best. We are encouraged to review what we have learned over the last 6 months so that we may have a more complete or holistic understanding of who we are. It would help us now to examine our relationship with our ego (fear) so that we may understand better how we “perceive” and “interact” with the world.
The caution of the Leo New Moon is to keep a check on our egos/fears. Check in with your anger or fear and ask “why do you feel that way?” before you respond. Think before speaking and acting. Words either heal or wound. Aggressive energies in their various forms are also seeking release (verbal aggression, bullying, senseless acts of greed or violence may be played out in the national/global arena etc…). Our best response to any energy imbalance is to observe it and not become it! Simply take responsibility for yourself and do not feed any negativity.
August’s Leo Moon holds great potential. New habits that are cultivated now have the power of Leo behind them and a great chance of taking root Leo encourages us to create, to break old habits, to revision our lives, to grow and move forward with courage. In its highest vibration, Leo is the Divine Child. He implicitly trusts in the Universe & the Self. Leo asks that we move forward with Heart – allowing ourselves to “feel” the way. This is a new concept for many, as we typically rely on our thinking mind rather than our feeling mind (Heart). Each of us are learning to be patient with change as we navigate un-chartered terrain and grow into our new selves and possibly new roles. The wisdom of Paulo Coelho in the Alchemist captures the essence of Leo the Lion and this new moon: “There is only one thing that makes a Dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” Never forget that: “…. when you want something, all the Universe conspires in helping you to Achieve it.”
