Attitude Adjustment

I was recently asked, “What are your thoughts on how to change people’s attitudes from being self-serving and mean-spirited to becoming loving and accepting?” I thought that this question would be a great discussion topic for my blog.  Your comments would be most welcome.

I think that changing one’s attitude is an “individual journey & personal conquest”. We certainly cannot transform anyone else nor can we inflict our will upon another. What we can do is to create a space for positive change to occur – where love, grace, and kindness can enter & thrive. People intuitively know when they are accepted & loved. We don’t have to announce or convince others that this is true.  The energy of loving-kindness speaks for itself. It does so without striving, struggle, or manipulation. It builds bridges rather than destroys. It allows relationships to flourish and souls to bloom. If we understand this, the question changes to: “What areas of my life or circumstances challenge me to be compassionate?”, “What feelings do they bring up?”, “In what way is my heart closed?” This level of questioning can lead to our healing and the release of judgment. If we can learn to look at ourselves clearly and with compassion then our lens in which we view the world or others changes reciprocally.  We can never truly extend to others the love and compassion that we do not extend to ourselves – so start with you.

Despite our differences, we are all in this together. All things/people/circumstances serve a purpose otherwise they cease to exist. For now, some of us still choose to learn through a crisis. Crisis illuminates what is no longer working & serves as a motivator toward effective change. There are many ways to grow/change/evolve. A crisis is merely a path to growth. It is not the only path.

What we can do as Conscious and Awakened individuals is this: take responsibility for our beliefs, judgments, shadow selves (our fears), and our gifts. This attitude of self-awareness and individual accountability empowers us. It transforms how we view ourselves, the world, and shapes our interactions with all of life.  To assist in the vibrational shift of the world: allow yourself to be in your heart often, cultivate empathy, release anger, & what burdens the heart. Take compassionate action within your sphere of influence on those issues that have real value. And, remember that all life strives toward the Light whether that life is conscious of it or not.

Let us remember this: We will always find what we are expecting or looking for – whether it be of Light or shadow. This is a law of the Universe: “Seek and you shall find”. With that, let us remember to expect that miracles are present within all of our hearts. May we be open to seeing and receiving them when they come.

Rather than focusing upon lack – it would most benefit us to focus on Being the Light & the Love that we wish to see in this World. What we focus upon – we eventually Become.

I would like my life to be a statement of love and compassion–and where it isn’t, that’s where my work lies.~
